Jaguar XJ13
They XJ13 was meant to follow up the D-types but never raced one race, during the developing process the quad cam engine dropped power starting in the warm up phase, this had to do with the inlet ports which became to hot and caused expansion of the mixture gas which blocked the free way to get mixture into the combustion chambers, years were spend trying to cure the problem by casting a big variation of new cylinder heads but they never could cure the problem, then an accident happens during a test drive at Mira which destroyed the car, the decision was made to rebuild the project but also to stop further development.
The car here mentioned is a reproduction fully built in the Netherlands, all started back in 1984 when I bought some mouldings of the XJ13 which were found at the top floor of a Dutch ship engine factory, I then started a plan to build an exact reproduction of the car and started to produce needing parts but as I was already busy with several other projects I realized over the time more and more that it be impossible to raise enough time to progress well and decide to sell the project with some pain in my heart but you can't fight the clock!
I then sold it on to a relation (Marc van den Brand) Marc had a Mercedes scrap yard but also a body workshop with some very skilled workers, Marc finally build the car but never came round to replicate the engine properly and fitted an altered V12 E-type engine into it with the help of another Jaguar garage, after it was finished it remained in his garage for many years and one day he asked me if I was interested to buy it of him as he did nothing with it, some years later I agreed a price and bought it back and made it good running, as I'm a tall person it's impossible for myself to sit into the car and so can't drive it, because of that I decided to sell it on to a customer who has a Majestic Jaguar collection of great importance, today it still remains in his collection.
